Hazardous Materials Technician Refresher
This course satisfies the yearly recertification requirements for Hazardous Materials Technicians in accordance with 29CFR1910.120(q)(8)(i). The target audience are personnel assigned to respond to hazardous materials incidents. Please contact SCD for information.
Hazardous Materials Techician Chemistry

WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness
The course is provided by the Hawaii Department of Health, Noise, Radiation, and Indoor Air Quality Branch. See course description. 2005 Course dates: May 26, June 30, and August 25. The course is also offered by individual agencies. Conact SCD or your agency training officer.

WMD Operations Level Courses
Emergency Medical Services Operations and Planning for WMD PER-211
This course will be scheduled when requested by a host agency. This three-day course will prepare intermediate and advanced EMS personnel for with triage and treatment of WMD patients. Students will demonstrate triage, mass decontamination, treatement, and stabilization. Housing may be availible for neighbor island responders at a nominal cost. Contact SCD for further details.

Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB)
Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB) is a four day train-the-trainer course. Students are expected to teach the Performance Level course to their agency upon completion of the course. All course, travel, and lodging costs for state and local personnel will be covered by the Energetic Materials Research & Testing Center (EMRTC). Private sector and federal employees are responsible for all costs.
WMD Hazardous Materials Technician – PER-261
The WMD Hazardous Materials Technician course is a three-day training course providing responders with an overview of international and domestic terrorist threats; seminars in chemical, biological, radiological, and explosive hazards that may be used as WMD; and hands-on practical exercises utilizing the responder’s knowledge and skills in identifying, detecting, categorizing, and neutralizing hazardous substances All travel, lodging, and course expenses for State and Local responders will be covered by the Center For Domestic Preparedness (CDP).
This four-day course prepares the hazardous materials technician to respond to an incident involving a radiological or nuclear weapon of mass destruction (WMD), such as a Radiological Dispersal Device (RDD, “Dirty Bomb”) or an Improvised Nuclear Device (IND). All travel, lodging, and course expenses for State and Local responders will be covered by the Counter Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS).
